La Costa Condominium

How do you make a single story, interior condo interesting when it is basically a rectangle?  By playing with shapes!  We wanted to create interior interest and use the existing architecture to make the space come alive.  So we played with color, layered the lighting, took a few furniture risks, and made some bold statements with art to make this La Costa condo just right for this client.

Coastal Contemporary

A 35 year old home was renovated from floors to ceilings creating an open concept great room, custom kitchen with island and buffet.  New wood flooring, quartz countertops, glass tile, stainless steel appliances, Solatube, LED lighting, furniture and accessories created the cool coastal vibe this family desired.

Sun City West, Arizona

Library

Originally intended as the living room, this room was transformed into a comfortable front library with two reclining chairs and ottomans covered in rust colored nubuck and open natural maple bookcases which are highlighted by a custom faux finish paint treatment on the wall. A beautiful Oriental rug makes the room cozy with a worldly elegance. A bit of drama is introduced with the feminine figure sculptural torchiere lamp. The owners' sculpture of dancers was highlighted with a custom-made pedestal and a new art light.

Dining Room

Utilizing client's dining table and china cabinet, new skirted parsons chairs were built to bring some softness and texture to the space. Ivory colored silk broadcloth from India stamped with gold and silver abstract designs covered the chairs, with the added detail of an inverted pleat and single button on the back. Italian scavo glass sconces were installed with custom-created floral arrangements to flank the china cabinet. A dhurrie rug in a block pattern of ivory, gold, and pewter completes the look.

Family Room

The media wall was faux finished to match the library and a natural maple media center was installed. The media center also allows the homeowners to display special collectibles. A sectional sofa covered in chenille was custom designed with coordinating toss pillows. A one of a kind rug was created to pull all the colors together as well as integrate the target back design of the chairs in the adjoining breakfast area.

Breakfast Area

A McGuire dining table and target back armchairs were selected for this space. The chairs have an ivory crackle finish and ebony detail on the back. A Lee Jofa fabric was chosen for the upholstered seat and backs, which coordinates with a bench in the library and toss pillows on the sectional.

Gallery Wall

A group of the homeowners' photographs and prints were reframed and matted to create a collection which is now displayed on a wall dividing the dining area from the family room. The potshelves above were faux finished and accessories are displayed that highlight the gold and pewter patterns in the dining room and also coordinate with the family room.

Master Bedroom

All the soft goods in this room were custom designed for the space. The homeowners had two rattan arm chairs with an existing red finish. Using Andrew Martin fabric imported from England, new cushions were made and became the inspiration for the room. The red and gold color palette with accents of black now combine with the rich wood tones of the owners' bed and armoire to create a room that glows. New gold Berber carpeting completed the room.

Family Room

Escaping the Minnesota winters is especially enjoyable when the homeowners can retreat to this light-filled family room in Fountain Hills, Arizona. Comfy and durable furnishings mixed with colorful accessories and highlighted by a Venetian Plaster finish on the fireplace make this space ideal for family and friends.
